I am sure that what has been happening around the world, including and especially in the United States with its raging forest fires, hurricanes, racial conflict and the COVID 19 pandemic, has given rise to doomsday prophets everywhere. The truth is, all of this has been foretold since time immemorial; the only thing missing is a hurtling asteroid, and of course, locusts.
Everything else, we got, including a madman as the world’s “leader,” who can send humanity back to the stone age. And he seems to be doing a good job at that. For his supporters, this madman is “the chosen one,” the second coming of Christ, and for his detractors, he is Satan incarnate or the anti-Christ as the Bible did predict that his followers would wear the mark of the beast on their foreheads (MAGA hats). Truly, that he actually has a following is the deep mystery in all this.
To be certain, most religions have based their doomsday beliefs on fear and superstitions for several millennia. However, what has happened in this era, is that there is now an environment in which science is also predicting doomsday. We hear about it within the context of climate change – which is very real – colony or civilizational collapse disorder, and the Anthropocene or the 6th great mass extinction.
Not be forgotten is that the world’s science-based Doomsday Clock – which was at two minutes before midnight in 2018 – is currently at 100 seconds to midnight. It is probably now at 90 seconds to midnight. If he were the head of state of say, Iceland or Costa Rica, the clock would perhaps not be advancing as fast, but as head of the US empire, yes, he actually has the capacity to take the whole world with him.
Regarding all the doomsday prophets and the scientists converging? Not quite. In the Western/Christian tradition, [false] prophets have continuously been calling for and predicting the Great Tribulation, the Second Coming, End Times, Armageddon, the anti-Christ and rapture since the 1st century A.D.
As soon as one year proves to be wrong, a new year by another prophet is proposed, and so on and so forth. Even Columbus and Nostradamus got in on this action.
In the modern era, there has been Charles Manson, Jim Jones, David Koresh, the Rev Sun Myung Moon, Edward Cayce, but also Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. Mel Gibson probably fits here too, as well as Mike Pence.
Now other traditions and religions also have their doomsday prophets, but the Western World got 2012 all twisted due to those who have zero or little knowledge of the traditions of the original peoples of this continent. For instance, for the Maya, 2012 was never “the end of the world.” It was but the end of a calendric cycle.
Whether people believe or adhere to any of these beliefs, the idea of the end times is very much a universal idea. And yet, it is arguable that this crazy talk in 2020 is different; we not only have a madman running the most powerful nation in the history of humanity, with the most powerful weapons ever developed – and as such, the earth indeed is facing its biggest threat of extinction since the Cold War. We may be in even more dangerous times today because the madman indeed is not only mentally unstable, but also, he is a white supremacist and a power-hungry authoritarian. Not to be forgotten is that the five-time coward also claims to know more than his generals. We also know he hates women, this is even before we knew of the forced sterilization of migrant women, a scandal that will not be going away anytime soon.
During his years in office, he has floated the idea that he deserves to be president for life or at minimum, deserves a third term because of all the investigations against him. This assertion also comes at a time of the COVID 19 pandemic when he continues to insist that he knows more than the doctors and scientists and that his quick actions have saved many millions of lives. Meanwhile, the United States has passed 200,000 COVID deaths. What he should be facing and fearing is life imprisonment.
Elections usually do not solve a nation’s or humanity’s problems, but perhaps this year will be different. As I recall, the famed late astrologer, Walter Mercado, did predict in 2016 that the election of the madman would bring about the total destruction of the world. This time, in the event he is thumped at the ballot box, it is not difficult to predict that that will greatly increase that probability.
It seems that would precipitate, not a constitutional crisis, but rather, a literal threat to humanity’s existence.

Estoy seguro de que lo que ha estado sucediendo en todo el mundo, incluido y especialmente en los Estados Unidos con sus furiosos incendios forestales, huracanes, conflictos raciales y la pandemia de COVID 19, ha dado lugar a profetas del fin del mundo en todas partes. La verdad es que todo esto se ha predicho desde tiempos inmemoriales; lo único que falta es un asteroide que se precipita y, por supuesto, langostas.
Todo lo demás lo tenemos, incluido un loco como el "líder" del mundo, que puede devolver a la humanidad a la edad de piedra. Y parece estar haciendo un buen trabajo en eso. Para sus seguidores, este loco es "el elegido", la segunda venida de Cristo, y para sus detractores, es Satanás encarnado o el anticristo, como la Biblia predijo que sus seguidores llevarían la marca de la bestia en sus frentes (sombreros MAGA). En verdad, el hecho de que tenga seguidores es el profundo misterio de todo esto.
Sin duda, la mayoría de las religiones han basado sus creencias apocalípticas en el miedo y las supersticiones durante varios milenios. Sin embargo, lo que ha sucedido en esta era es que ahora existe un entorno en el que la ciencia también está prediciendo el día del juicio final. Lo escuchamos en el contexto del cambio climático, que es muy real, el desorden de colapso de colonias o civilizaciones, y el Antropoceno o la sexta gran extinción masiva.
No se debe olvidar que el Reloj del Juicio Final, basado en la ciencia del mundo, que estaba dos minutos antes de la medianoche en 2018, está actualmente a 100 segundos para la medianoche. Probablemente sean ahora 90 segundos para la medianoche. Si fuera el jefe de estado de, digamos, Islandia o Costa Rica, el reloj tal vez no avanzaría tan rápido, pero como jefe del imperio estadounidense, sí, en realidad tiene la capacidad de llevarse al mundo entero con él.
¿Con respecto a todos los profetas del fin del mundo y los científicos que convergen? No exactamente. En la tradición occidental /Cristiana, los profetas [falsos] han estado llamando y prediciendo continuamente la Gran Tribulación, la Segunda Venida, el Fin de los Tiempos, el Armagedón, el anticristo y el rapto desde el siglo I d.C.
Tan pronto como se demuestra que un año está mal, otro profeta propone un año nuevo, y así sucesivamente. Incluso Colón y Nostradamus participaron en esta acción.

Y, sin embargo, es discutible que esta loca charla en 2020 sea diferente; no solo tenemos a un loco dirigiendo la nación más poderosa de la historia de la humanidad, con las armas más poderosas jamás desarrolladas, y como tal, la tierra se enfrenta a la mayor amenaza de extinción desde la Guerra Fría. Es posible que estemos en tiempos aún más peligrosos porque el loco no solo es mentalmente inestable, sino que también es un supremacista blanco y un autoritario hambriento de poder. No hay que olvidar que el cinco-veces-cobarde también afirma saber más que sus generales. También sabemos que odia a las mujeres, esto es incluso antes de que supiéramos de la esterilización forzosa de mujeres migrantes, un escándalo que no desaparecerá pronto.
Durante sus años en el cargo, ha planteado la idea de que merece ser presidente de por vida o, como mínimo, merece un tercer mandato por todas las investigaciones en su contra. Esta afirmación también llega en un momento de la pandemia de COVID 19 cuando continúa insistiendo en que sabe más que los médicos y científicos y que sus acciones rápidas han salvado muchos millones de vidas. Mientras tanto, Estados Unidos ha superado las 200.000 muertes por COVID. Lo que debería afrontar y temer es la cadena perpetua en una prisión máxima.
Las elecciones generalmente no resuelven los problemas de una nación o de la humanidad, pero quizás este año sea diferente. Según recuerdo, el famoso astrólogo fallecido, Walter Mercado, predijo en 2016 que la elección del loco provocaría la destrucción total del mundo. Esta vez, en caso de que lo golpeen en las urnas, no es difícil predecir que eso aumentará en gran medida esa probabilidad.
Parece que precipitaría, no una crisis constitucional, sino una amenaza literal a la existencia de la humanidad.
