Well-Armed Demons

Posted

As the year nears its close, tragedies of 2025 come to mind, especially the ones made by man and were avoidable. Nothing of that nature so stands oiut on a higher plateau than mass shootings and at the summit are the deaths and injuries in the August attack on Assumption Catholic Church in Minneapolis.

What adds to the infamy is that the victims, mostly children, were killed or wounded simply by chance. The shooter outside the church, unable to see anyone through stained glass windows, fired blindly, aimlessly, counting on the sheer number of bullets to hit unseen targets.

This man, who had no faith in the laws of God or man to not harm others, had complete faith in the laws of probability to inflict death and suffering. Of the guns he had, only one was a military-type rifle that fired just short of 200 bullets in less than two minutes. I can only guess at the anguish parents of killed or wounded children are enduring, who endlessly ask, “If there were just a few less bullets fired, would my child not have been shot?”

White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt said she believed “demonic forces” were at work. Perhaps she is correct in her theological viewpoint that the devil from time to time sends forth a demon; however, she fails to add that only Republicans make available the only type of firearm that makes the demon truly demonic.
